In September 2025 I attended my first DTN Annual Forum in Lisbon — the yearly gathering of the EIT Urban Mobility Doctoral Training Network, a collective of eleven European universities that is centrally managed at TUM.

Over three days the forum brought together doctoral researchers working across the breadth of urban mobility. The value was less in any single session than in the range of them: seeing how differently colleagues frame mobility problems — from travel behaviour through infrastructure to policy design — is a useful corrective when you spend most of your time deep inside one method.

Alongside the research exchange, the forum is built around the network’s training in innovation and entrepreneurship, and it left room to get to know peers properly. Exploring Lisbon between sessions was no hardship either.

Grateful for the opportunity, and looking forward to the next one.
